How to start

  • The part numbers on the module labels get you the most accurate quote, and photos of those labels work just as well.
  • Server memory doesn't keep data without power, so it doesn't get a wipe certificate. Every module still appears on your job summary.

Include installed memory and spare modules

Memory often accumulates across several refresh cycles: installed modules in retired servers, trays of spares, and older sticks in storage. Include DDR, DDR2, and DDR3 alongside DDR4 and DDR5 in your description. We review the collection rather than treating the examples below as a cutoff.

You can leave memory installed in systems when starting the conversation. If modules are already loose, tell us roughly how many you have and whether they are sorted. An exact count by specification is helpful when available, but it is not required for an initial inquiry.

A readable label is more useful than a guess

Photos of module labels help identify part numbers, capacity, and other specifications. If trays contain different types, photograph a few representative labels and explain that the lot is mixed. Send an existing parts list if you have one; there is no need to build a new spreadsheet first.

Note modules with known faults or physical damage, and keep loose memory protected in suitable packaging. If memory is part of a larger clearout, describe the servers, drives, and other components alongside it so the collection can be planned as one job.

Separate component records from drive records

Standard server memory is handled as a component in the job summary rather than receiving a drive-wipe certificate. If you have unusual modules or are unsure what a component is, send its label for review rather than assuming it follows the same handling process.

Any storage media included in the lot has its data service agreed separately. Tell us about installed or loose drives when making the inquiry. You can start with photos, a description, or an inventory-visit request if the collection needs a closer look.

Questions about server memory

Can I include server memory in a mixed lot?

Yes. Include server memory with the other hardware you need to clear out. We review the whole lot and confirm the scope before collection.

What do I need to send for a quote on server memory?

The part numbers on the module labels get you the most accurate quote, and photos of those labels work just as well.

How are these components documented?

Components appear in the job summary. If your lot also includes storage media, we agree on its data handling separately.

Which server memory do you accept?

DDR5: RDIMM 16GB to 128GB, 4800, 5600, and 6400 MT/s. DDR4: RDIMM and LRDIMM 16GB to 128GB, 2400 to 3200 MT/s. Older memory: DDR3, DDR2, DDR. Chip makers: Samsung, SK hynix, Micron. These are examples, not a cutoff. If yours isn't here, send photos or a description for review.

How soon can you pick up server memory?

Our team picks up in the Bay Area within 5 business days of quote acceptance. Everywhere else in the US, we schedule freight within 5 business days.
